Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Concept project

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a part of the National Parks Service; because of this it has no visual identity of its own. The park has a rich cultural history that spans from the prehistoric Paleo Indians to European settlement in the 1800s and more. The park straddles part of the Great Smoky Mountains and part of the Blue Ridge Mountains which are both divisions of the Appalachian Mountain chain. The Cherokee named the land Shaconage which means "place of the blue smoke". The park protects historic structures, landscapes, and artifacts vital to its history. Due to this rich history, I believe it would greatly benefit from an identity of its own. Therefore, I created a system that includes a new logo, signage system, park merchandise, field guide, etc.
